Friends of the School

We’re a volunteer group of parents, caregivers, whānau, and community members who support Whangamatā Area School by rolling up our sleeves and getting things done, helping create a safe, welcoming, and inspiring environment for our tamariki.

What we do

Practical help, community connection, and (when approved) support for bigger projects.

Working bees

Every term (Week 7, Saturdays 10am–1pm). Join us for planting, painting, maintenance, and general school improvements.

Practical projects

Small repairs, rubbish collection, garden and grounds enhancement, the stuff that keeps the school looking great.

Community fundraising

Helping bring bigger ideas to life, like outdoor learning spaces and facility upgrades, once scope and approvals are confirmed.

Our values

Guided by KORU.

K Knowledge — sharing skills and learning together. O Ownership — taking responsibility and making a difference. R Respect — caring for each other and our environment. U Unity — building connection and an inclusive community.
